Furthermore, Subhuti, what meaning do you observe in saying that the Suchness tathata true nature of reality of the Stage of Joyful Practice is not the Bodhisattva Mahasattva? Is it the Stage of Impurity, the Stage of Radiance, the Stage of Flaming Wisdom, the Stage of Being Very Difficult to Conquer, the Stage of Manifestation, the Stage of Far-Going, the Stage of Immovability, the Stage of Good Wisdom, or the Stage of Dharma Clouds? Is the Suchness of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva different from the Suchness of the Stage of Joyful Practice? Is the Suchness of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva different from the Stage of Impurity, or even the Stage of Dharma Clouds? The Suchness of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva is not the Suchness of the Stage of Joyful Practice. Does the Suchness of the Stage of Joyful Practice contain the Bodhisattva Mahasattva? Is it not the case that the Suchness of the Stage of Impurity, or even the Stage of Dharma Clouds, contains the Bodhisattva Mahasattva? Does the Bodhisattva Mahasattva contain the Suchness of the Stage of Joyful Practice? Is it not the case that the Bodhisattva Mahasattva contains the Suchness of the Stage of Impurity, or even the Stage of Dharma Clouds? Does the Suchness of the Stage of Joyful Practice contain the Bodhisattva Mahasattva? Is it not the case that the Suchness of the Stage of Impurity, or even the Stage of Dharma Clouds, contains the Bodhisattva Mahasattva? The Venerable Subhuti replied, "World-Honored One, it is not so." Subhuti, what meaning do you observe? Even regarding the Stage of Dharma Clouds, its nature is ultimately ungraspable and does not exist. How then can there be the self-nature of the Stage of Joyful Practice? If its self-nature does not exist, and the Suchness of the Stage of Impurity, or even the Stage of Dharma Clouds, also does not have such a self-nature, how can one say that the Suchness of the Stage of Joyful Practice contains the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, or that the Suchness of the Stage of Impurity contains the Bodhisattva Mahasattva? Truly, Subhuti, within Suchness there is the Suchness of the Joyful Stage, or even the Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Within the Suchness of the Stage of Joyful Practice, there is the Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Within the Suchness of the Stage of Impurity, or even the Stage of Dharma Clouds, there is the Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Within the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, there is the Suchness of the Stage of Joyful Practice. Within the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, there is the Suchness of the Stage of Impurity, or even the Stage of Dharma Clouds.
