The founder’s surname was Park, his given name Hyeokgeose. In the first year of the Wufeng era 57 BCE of Emperor Xuan of the Former Han, during the first month one source says the fifteenth day of the first month, he ascended the throne and took the title Geoseogan. He was thirteen years old at the time. The name of the nation was Seonabeol. Before this, the remnants of Joseon lived scattered among the mountains and valleys in six villages:
1. Yangsan Village of Alcheon
2. Goheo Village of Dolsan
3. Jinji Village of Jisan sometimes called Ujinji Village
4. Daesu Village of Mosan
5. Gari Village of Geumsan
6. Goya Village of Myeonghwasan
These were the Six Departments of Jinhan.
