The king then divided the people of the six departments into two groups, making two royal princesses each lead the women within the departments, forming teams and parties. From the autumn, the seventh month, after the full moon, they gathered every morning in the courtyards of the great departments and spun hemp, finishing at midnight. On the fifteenth day of the eighth month, they examined the amount of work completed; those who lost provided wine and food to thank the winners. Here, songs, dances, and all sorts of entertainment were performed, which were called Gabae. At this time, a woman from the losing side stood up and danced, sighing, "Hoeso, Hoeso." Her voice was mournful and elegant. Later people followed her sound to create a song, naming it the Hoesogok.
In the eleventh year, the ground in the capital cracked and springs gushed forth. In summer, the sixth month, there was a great flood.
