ධම්මපදට්ඨකථා (Dhammapada Commentary — Sri Lankan Palm-Leaf MS)

May all beings be free from suffering, be healthy, and be happy by the power of all these meritorious deeds being shared for the attainment of omniscience sarvajna all-knowing state of a Buddha; I perform this merit with that noble aspiration. Furthermore, I share this merit with the faithful and noble ones who live ordained in this Sasana dispensation. May this meritorious deed of writing down this noble True Dhamma Saddharma the True Doctrine be the cause for them to be freed from the four lower realms and to reach the deathless great Nirvana.

May the gods also share in whatever merit is obtained from this meritorious act. Furthermore, may this gift of Dhamma dhamma dana the act of sharing teachings exist for the sake of achieving the goals of both this world and the next. This noble section of the Dhamma, which is included in the eighty-four thousand Dhamma-sections preached by the Omniscient One, has been written and completed.

The True Dhamma preached by the Blessed One has been recorded in writing in this way so that it may not perish but last for a long time. May the faithful people who read and understand the Dhamma points contained herein achieve success in this world and a good rebirth in the next.

May this Dhamma book be a great help to the faithful who aspire for the treasure of Nirvana. May all beings be freed from suffering. May they see Nirvana. Sadhu, Sadhu, Sadhu.
