...eternal. If one is an emperor a literal translation of the damaged text "元帝" which appears to be a scribal error or corruption in the manuscript referring to 'the primary/original', one should not contemplate the sound-realm or the ear-contact and the feelings arising from that ear-contact, whether they are eternal or impermanent. Why? Because the ear-realm, the ear-contact, and the feelings arising from the ear-contact are svabhava self-nature empty. The sound-realm, the ear-contact, and the feelings arising from that ear-contact are svabhava empty. Therefore, the ear-realm, the ear-contact, and the feelings arising from that ear-contact are non-self-nature; non-self-nature is the Dana-paramita. This Dana-paramita cannot be obtained; that emperor also cannot be obtained. The sound-realm and even the ear-contact and the feelings arising from that ear-contact cannot be obtained; that emperor also cannot be obtained. In this, there is not even an emperor to be obtained, how could there be a "that" referring to a graspable object? In this, there is not even an emperor to be obtained, how could there be a "that"? Pleasure and pain also cannot be obtained. Why? In this, there is not even an emperor to be obtained, how could there be a "that"? Pleasure and pain also cannot be obtained. In this, there is not even an ear-realm to be obtained, how could there be that pleasure or pain? In this Dana-paramita, one should not contemplate whether it is "self" or "son" as in, possessiveness of the act of giving. One should not contemplate the ear-realm, the ear-contact, and the feelings arising from that ear-contact, whether it is "self" or "no-self." Why?
