...could not be seen. At that time, the Buddha said to Ananda: "Can you see the land and the assembly of the Buddha Akshobhya, the Thus-Come-One, the Equal and Perfect Enlightened One?" Ananda said, "Though I saw it, I do not see it anymore." It is not an object of the eye. Then the Buddha told Ananda again: "The assembly and land of the Tathagata are not objects of this world's eye perception. You should know that all phenomena are also like this; they are not objects of the eye-root and other senses." Ananda, you should know that the Dharma does not act; it does not see phenomena, it does not understand phenomena, it does not verify phenomena. Ananda, you should know that in all phenomena, there is no one who can act, no one who can see, no one who can know, no one who can verify. They are immovable and without fabrication. Why? Because all phenomena are without inherent activity, and the subject and object are like the nature of emptiness, because they are far removed. Because all phenomena are inconceivable, the one who perceives and that which is perceived are like light and shadow, because they are not solid or real. Ananda, you should know that if Bodhisattvas can practice like this, if they practice the Prajnaparamita, they have no attachment to the characteristics of all phenomena. If Bodhisattvas can study like this, in the Prajnaparamita, they have no grasping or discarding of all phenomena. Ananda, you should know that if Bodhisattvas wish to attain all paramitas perfections and complete them swiftly, to reach the ultimate of all phenomena, those Great Beings must practice the Prajnaparamita. Why? Because such study, among all studies, is the most supreme, the most excellent, the most honorable, the highest, the most subtle and profound, the ultimate, and the unsurpassed. It brings benefit and happiness to the entire world. Ananda, you should know that if Bodhisattvas can study like this, they become a refuge for those who have no refuge. The Buddhas and World-Honored Ones allow and praise this study of the Prajnaparamita. Good companions, when Bodhisattvas have studied this, they dwell in it. They can use their right hand or the finger of their right foot to cause the three-thousand-fold world-system to tremble, or return it to its original state. The sentient beings within it do not know or feel it; they are unharmed and unafraid. Why? Because the power and merit of the profound Prajnaparamita are inconceivable. The Buddhas of the past, future, and present, and all Bodhisattvas, learn this profound Prajnaparamita. Regarding the past, future, and present, and the non-existing Dharma, they can all attain the essence, shattering false wisdom and views. Therefore, Ananda, I say that being able to study the profound Prajnaparamita is the most supreme, most excellent, most honorable, highest, and most subtle among all studies.
