...the Twelve Nidanas, and if the Prajnaparamita can observe the Twelve Nidanas as they truly are, at that time the Bodhisattva does not see form, feeling, perception, formation, or consciousness; they do not see this world, and they do not see that world. If a Bodhisattva can practice the deep Prajnaparamita in this way, at that time the evil Mara tempter/demon will feel worry and distress, as if poisoned by an arrow. Just as a mother suffers deep pain when her child passes away, the evil Mara also possesses such feelings. Subhuti then said to the Buddha: "Is it only one evil Mara who sees Bodhisattvas practicing the deep Prajnaparamita and feels worry and distress, as if from a poisoned arrow? Does this extend throughout the three-thousand great thousand-world system an entire universe in Buddhist cosmology, and are all Maras like this?" The Buddha told Subhuti: "Throughout the three-thousand great thousand-world system, all Maras are like this. When a Bodhisattva practices the deep Prajnaparamita, [the Maras] feel worry and distress, as if from a poisoned arrow; each, in their own seat, cannot remain at peace. Why? Because if Bodhisattvas abide in the deep Prajnaparamita, the devas, humans, and asuras demi-gods of the world cannot find any flaws in them. They are also unable to do anything against such Bodhisattvas. Therefore, Subhuti, if Bodhisattvas wish to realize supreme, perfect enlightenment, and can abide in the deep Prajnaparamita, they will be able to complete the paramitas of giving, pure precepts, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom. If Bodhisattvas can completely practice the deep Prajnaparamita, they will be able to fully satisfy and complete all paramitas. They will be able to satisfy all demonic [obstacles]. If a Bodhisattva truly knows and stays far away from these, therefore, Subhuti, if Bodhisattvas wish to fill their positions reach the status of a future Buddha with skillful means, they should practice the deep Prajnaparamita. When a Bodhisattva practices the deep Prajnaparamita, at that time, in immeasurable great worlds, all Buddhas and World-Honored Ones will together protect and think of them. A Bodhisattva should think: 'Those Thus-Come-Ones, the Perfectly Enlightened Ones, have also contemplated [the truth]. Just as the Thus-Come-Ones, the Perfectly Enlightened Ones, have verified the Dharma, I also will verify such enlightenment.' If a Bodhisattva practices the deep Prajnaparamita, they should think: 'In just the time it takes to snap one's fingers, the gathered merit produced will be full. One will attain the Bodhisattva fruit and verification. Just as the Thus-Come-Ones, I will lay out the path of the great beginning.'
