Hidden in all beings, all-pervading, and eternal.
He appears to have the qualities of all senses, yet He is devoid of all senses. (36)
Beyond the worlds, the cause of the worlds, beyond the reach of speech and mind.
He knows the universe, for He is all-knowing, but no one knows Him. (37)
The entire world, including the moving and the stationary, is subject to Him.
This world rests upon Him as its foundation, even though it is unthinkable. (38)
Relying on His truth, everything appears separately as "this" referring to the sensory experience of objects like earth, water, etc..
By that very cause, we were born, O Great Goddess! (39)
He is the sole Supreme Lord, the cause of all beings.
Because He creates the worlds, He is sung of as the Creator, Brahma. (40)
"Hidden in all beings" means He is concealed within all moving and stationary beings. "Sarvavyapi" means He has the nature of pervading all things. "Sanatana" means without beginning or end. "Sarvendriyagunabhasa" means He causes all the senses and their objects to appear; He is of that nature. "Sarvendriyavivarjita" means He is devoid of all senses, such as the eyes. (36) "Lokatita" means He has transcended the worlds. "Lokahetu" means the seed of the universe. "Avangmanasagochara" means He is not the object of speech or mind. "Sarvajna" means He, the Supreme Self, knows the whole universe. No one knows the Supreme Self; therefore, the Supreme Self alone is the one Truth, and everything else is untrue because it is not of that nature. (37) Regarding "Tadadhinam" etc.: The entire world is under His control, subject to the Supreme Self. The three worlds, with all that is moving and stationary, rest upon Him as their foundation. This world is "avitarkya," meaning it cannot be inferred; by relying on the truth of the Supreme Self, this earth, these waters, this air, etc., appear separately as real. "We" refers to Shankar and others. (38, 39) Regarding "Karanam" etc.: He is the one, the sole one. By His will, through the creation of the worlds, He is sung of as the Creator, Brahma. By His will alone, because He maintains the created worlds, He is sung of as Vishnu, the Preserver. Because He is the destroyer of that, I am sung of as the Destroyer. (40)
