Many large and small Tantric texts have been printed in the series of Indian Tantra scriptures. Among them, the 'Dattatreya Tantra' is a universally accepted work. This text was obtained by the incarnation of the Divine, the Great Yogi, the master of time, the embodiment of the Trinity, and the supreme perfected being, Shri Dattatreya, by praying to Lord Shiva, the supreme master of Tantra, specifically as a method for practicing secret Tantric knowledge in the Kali Yuga.
This Tantra text, composed of twenty-eight chapters, is described as being free from all defects and capable of granting rapid success without the need for complex preparations such as utkila the process of unlocking a mantra. Lord Shiva revealed this, despite its highly secret nature, for the sake of his supreme devotee, Shri Dattatreya. Highly confidential subjects are compiled within it, including the twenty-eight chapters covering: 1. Death-dealing rituals (marana), 2. Delusion (mohana), 3. Paralysis (stambhana), 4. Causing enmity (vidveshana), 5. Eviction (ucchattana), 6. Subjugation (vashikarana), 7. Attraction (akarshana), 8. Magic illusions (indrajala), 9. Yakshini attainment (yakshini-sadhana), 10. Alchemy (rasayana-prayoga), 11. Knowledge of time (khalajnana), 12. Fasting (anahara), 13. Controlled intake (sahara), 14. Underground practices (bhumigata), 15. Remedies for infertility and childlessness and methods for conceiving a son, 16. Methods for winning debates, war, and gambling, 17. Virility enhancement (vajikarana), 18. Removal of evil spirits (bhutagraha-nivaran), 19. Protection from tigers and leopards, and 20. Methods to survive the fear of venomous creatures like snakes and scorpions, along with their mantras and procedures.
