The substance of this discourse is to show that the truth of the preceding proposition is not only manifest from the nature of things, but also from the testimony of antiquity.
And first, it may be observed that the ancient philosophers were of opinion that the world was created in time; and that it was not from eternity. This is evident from the writings of the most eminent among them, as well Greeks as others.
Moreover, it is further to be noted, that the same doctrine was maintained by the Primitive Church, as it was delivered by the Apostles.
