Four rectangular photographic inserts show portions of a palm-leaf or paper manuscript of the Akulavīratantram. The inserts are arranged in two rows. The top row contains the beginning of the text, and the bottom row contains the conclusion and colophon. The script is an 18th-century Nepalese hand (Prachalit/Newari).
Salutations to the blessed Bhairava. Now I shall speak of the supreme Akulavīratantra Tantra of the non-lineage hero. By hearing this, one is released from all sins; there is no doubt of this. The Akula is in the form of a bindu, the granter of the fruit of all desires. The Akula is the supreme bindu, eternal, blissful, and unchanging. Where the bindu is the supreme station, there the mind dissolves. As the air, residing in the sky, goes everywhere, so the bindu, having been steadied, [is intent upon] the welfare of all beings.
Without a lineage, one does not attain success anywhere. He who knows this is the king of yogins; he is Śiva, he is Keśava Vishnu. He whose intelligence is always thus is liberated; there is no doubt of this. Just as fire, having churned the wood, burns it in an instant, so one should burn the burden of sin a thousand times with the fire of knowledge. The mind resides in the bindu; the unborn Self resides within the mind. Therefore, having steadied the knowledge-filled bindu, [one attains] the supreme station. He whose intellect and wisdom have dissolved into the bindu, his lifespan grows daily, and he receives the fruit of all desires.
In me, in the essence, in the supreme essence, the supreme Brahman is established. Where the bindu is the supreme station, there the mind dissolves. The Akula is the supreme bindu, eternal, blissful, and non-dual. One does not attain the success of yoga without the grace of the bindu. Where the mind is not established, the bindu is the supreme station.
The Akula is the supreme bindu, eternal, blissful, and unchanging. Without a lineage, one does not attain success anywhere. The Akulavīratantra was spoken by the Lord in ancient times. Thus ends the Akulavīratantra. Completed on Samvat era year 844, Magha lunar month waxing fortnight, 7th day, Friday. May there be auspiciousness to all worlds. Blessed be the Great Splendor.
