"Tato’haṁ tatra yāsyāmi, tadājñāpaya vā na vā.
Prāpsyāmi yajñabhāgaṁ vā nāshayiṣyāmi va makham."

After that, he looked to his right, left, above, and below—that is, in every direction—and he was stunned to see a different divine form in each direction. Suddenly, he remembered Parvati and he thought that this might be the power of Sati. Therefore he said— "Parvati! What is this illusion?"
Hearing the question of her lord, Parvati replied with humility— "Lord! The dark-complexioned goddess who stands before you is Kali. The blue-complexioned goddess above you, who is the form of Mahakala, is 'Tara.' To your west, the goddess standing with a severed head held in her hand is 'Chinnamastika.' To your left stands the goddess 'Bhuvaneshwari.' Behind you stands the goddess who destroys enemies, 'Bagalamukhi.' In your southeast corner stands the widow-formed 'Dhumavati.' In the southwest corner stands the goddess 'Tripura Sundari.' In the northwest corner stands 'Matangi.' In the northeast corner stands the goddess 'Shodashi,' and..."
