The sixty-four Tantras beginning with Yamala are fruitful in the lands ruled by Vishnu. The various Tantras spoken of as different Kalpas are for deluding heretics; no result comes from them.
Superiority—In the Mahanirvana Tantra, Mahadeva has said—
"For the twice-born original: "dvijatinam" (those initiated into Vedic study) who are miserable due to the sins of the Kali age, O Goddess of the gods,
There is no purification by Vedic acts for those who do not distinguish between the pure and impure.
The desired goal of humans will not be attained by the Samhitas or the Smritis traditional law books.
Truth, truth, again truth, truth, truth is said by Me.
Without the path of the Agama, there is no way in the Kali age, O Beloved.
I have already spoken in the Shruti, Smriti, and Puranas, O Shiva,
The wise should worship deities in the Kali age through the procedures spoken of in the Agama."
Brahmins and Kshatriyas, who are miserable due to the faults of the Kali age, will not have the discernment of pure and impure; then how will they attain success by performing acts mentioned in the Veda? In this state, the desired success of humans will not come from the Smritis or Samhitas. O Beloved! I say only the truth: in the Kali age, there is no path other than the path of the Agama. O Shiva! I have already said in the Veda, Smriti, and Puranas that in the Kali age, the practitioner will worship the deities through the procedures mentioned in the Tantra.
"In the Kali age, he who transgresses the Agama and proceeds on another path,
He has no destination; this is the truth, the truth, without doubt.
Those of the Vedic lineage are devoid of power, like snakes without venom;
In the age of Truth and others they were fruitful, in the Kali age they are like the dead."
