Language Commentary (3)
I bow to that Goddess Kali, who is the Mother of the Universe and possesses the luster of a dark cloud. Her rows of teeth, which shine in her face like a row of cranes, are like lightning. She is adorned with a garland of skulls, is digambara naked, and has loosened hair. (8)
Her tongue is lolling and flickering; her three eyes are blood-red; her voice is terrifying (formidable); and her face shines with the light of countless millions of moons. (9)
Her crown is brilliant, shining like the crescent moon of the new moon night; her ears are adorned with two corpses; and all her limbs are decorated with various jewels. (10)
Her ear ornaments shine with clusters of suryakanta sun-stone and chandrakanta moon-stone gems; her waist is encircled by a girdle made of thousands of human hands; and a great laughter (attahasa) adorns her face. (11)
Her face is radiant with blood dripping from both her lips; her four arms are beautiful, holding a sword and a skull, and bestowing boons and freedom from fear. (12)
