A bookplate for the Library of the New York Botanical Garden. The central emblem features a shield with a book and a globe, flanked by two figures (a man in a cloak and a man with a shovel). Below the shield is a ribbon with the motto "PRO SCIENTIA POPULIQUE SALUTE". The emblem is framed by laurel branches in pots. Below the frame, a banner reads "LIBRARY OF THE NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN". At the very bottom, a small label reads "Rebound 1949", and a tiny signature line reads "Sept 1897 R.W. Gibson inv."
