CHARACTER: Receptacle dilated, sometimes branched, tending toward an orbicular shape. Hymenium underneath. Asci fixed.
CHARACTER: Lamellae gills radiating from the center or base, simple, parallel, usually with shorter ones interspersed, composed of a tightly connected double membrane, transversely flat, somewhat detached from the pileus, longitudinally or on both sides bearing asci. — Stipes stalk never reticulated, rarely obliterated. — Pileus cap fleshy or membranous, horizontal in adults, determinate, with a free margin, inward-curving when young, never effused, crustaceous, etc. — Velum veil various, or none.
