The method of Jarana samskara digestion process is very strange and clear in this text. The most important feature of Rasarnavam is described in the 18th chapter for the consumption of mercury. The description of Kshetrikaran field preparation/purification is available here from the perspective of a Rasa text. "The consumption of mercury by heat with bitumen, honey, vidanga embelia ribes, mustard, and iron." 18/14. This same description is also cited for this work in Ashtanga Sangraha and Vriddha Samhita. Although those texts are of the 3rd and 5th centuries, respectively, perhaps this text is ancient, or the author of this text took it from there. Anyway, the author of Rasarnavam has also told a very strange method of Rasa-sevana mercury consumption for Rasa-kramana transmutation. He has given different methods of kramana for common people and yogis or celibates.
1. Useful for common people
The kramana of mercury through the union of a woman is said to be the best.
2. For yogis and celibates—For yogis and celibates, Samadhi-karana the state of deep meditation itself is kramana.
Very difficult measures are described for the final attainment of mercury in the 18th chapter. The method is that in a large copper basin, after applying ghee and oil, one should heat the large basin on a furnace ignited with forced fire. When it becomes red-hot and smoke-free, after performing worship of the directional guardians, worship of the maiden, and offerings, one should bow to the constellations like Chanda and Surya, bow to the guru and Shiva, and jump into the heated basin. As per the guru's instructions, the attendants should pour water and other substances from above. All the material will turn into a gelatinous form. After this, the seeker will emerge with a divine body adorned with divine ornaments. Along with him, a divine maiden will also emerge, with whom he will enjoy for thousands of years in the realm of the accomplished ones, intoxicated with passion.
