These three traditions (Brahmanical, Buddhist, and Jain) remained unaware of the Maheswara tradition of the Dravidian region. Although followers of sects like the Aghoris, Avaghad, and Nath had obtained some knowledge of the experiments of the Maheswara tradition, the followers of the three ancient traditions could not obtain knowledge of the Maheswara tradition, because these three traditions were entirely opposite to the conduct of the Vamacharis left-hand tantric practitioners. In such a situation, these people did obtain the experiments of the Maheswara tradition, but they could not be used for social welfare.
The primary seat of the Maheswara alchemical tradition is the Dravidian region, and within it, there are several sects. The Shaiva, Pashupata, Lingayat, and Bhairava sects, etc., all fall under this.
The present Rasarnava Tantra appears to be within the Bhairava-worshipping sect of the Maheswara tradition. Many practices of the Maheswara tradition are found within it. Since the Kapalika skull-bearing ascetic ritual, Kapalika worship, and Kapalika yoga are used together in many places, this should be called a text of the Kapalika Maheswara tradition. The original founders of this Maheswara doctrine are Lord Bhairava and Mother Parvati, and the Rasarnava Tantra originated from their conversational ideas. The name Kapalika appears in the hundred names of Lord Shankar. Therefore, the ancient nature of this science of alchemy is clearly evident. In this text, the Goddess Parvati has sought to know the nature of Jivanmukti liberation while living, and Lord Bhairava has explained the nature of Jivanmukti. While describing the nature of Jivanmukti, he stated that the holding of the body occurs through Karmayoga the yoga of action, and that Karmayoga is mercury (Rasa) and wind (Pavan, i.e., breath control). Describing mercury and wind, he said that "fainted" (processed) mercury and wind remove groups of diseases, when "dead" (calcined) they restore life, and when "bound" (fixed), they provide the power to wander in the sky. True stories of achieving long life and moving in the sky are alive even today.
1. O Goddess, the holding of the body is achieved through Karmayoga. Mercury and wind are considered the two forms of Karmayoga. O Bhairavi, "fainted" mercury removes disease, when "dead" it gives life itself, and when "bound" it attains the ability to move in the sky. (Rasarnava 1.18-19)
