This Rasarnava Tantra is the fundamental text among books on alchemical medicine. It is in the form of a dialogue between Sri Parvati and Parameshwara. It is not discussed as to when, by whom, where, or how it was obtained from the Supreme Lord, because the direct realization of the chosen deity through the power of worship by the Siddhas perfected beings like Nagarjuna, Bhairavananda, and Nityanatha is already accepted. And their time is immediately after the Vedic sages.
Jivanmukti is the ultimate objective of this Tantra.
Its means is the King of Mercury (Rasaraja). And it, through various alchemical processes (Samskaras), attains various powers (Siddhis) such as Bhuchari earthly and Khechari aerial.
The subjects in this eighteen-chapter text are sequentially:
First—Question regarding Jivanmukti and the origin of mercury.
Second—Characteristics of the guru and disciple and their duties.
Third—Mantra installations.
Fourth—Characteristics of instruments, characteristics of crucibles, names of fire, and their characteristics.
Fifth—Works from regulation to Kramana transmutation.
Sixth—Method of mica characteristics and processing.
Seventh—Purification and melting processes of major minerals like gold-pyrite, secondary minerals like sulfur, metals like gold and silver, and gems like diamonds, with their characteristics.
Eighth—In this chapter, the number of colors resulting from the dyeing process and the method of seed manipulation are established.
Ninth—Vidas (catalysts) which are the means for the digestion of the seed in mercury.
