Prognostication for the Year 1495

With Jupiter as lord of the direction of the conjunction of the flood and lord of the house of the ascendant of the past prevention, with three malefics retrograde near the Moon, increasing in the sign where the flood and the direction of the last conjunction is found, with these weighed against the smaller conjunction in Libra: and also the last coupling of misfortunes in Pisces, together with that eclipse, although small in our parts: which will be on the 20th of August of the present year. Similarly and by other ways so necessary, of which a long description would be, I have annotated these conclusions in this fragment.

Of the quality and complexion of the weather of this year.

There will be many rains this year: and in summer some troublesome hailstorms with great thunders and strong winds: especially at sea. And generally the year will have little stability. The winter will have few extremes in the activities of heat or cold beyond the snows.

We will feel certain inundations of waters or rivers with the ruin of crops, fruits, and many men in our regions.

Many Lolubres likely a term for pests or creeping things, lizards, worms, reptiles, locusts, and many other insects with serpents will swarm, not without harmful effects. Many fish also will die this year.

Of the grain harvest and fruits.

Although the grain harvest and crops are destined to be condemned by various disturbances, both by the importunity of waters and air impressions, and by wars and men-at-arms: yet, with the exception of particular places condemned by the aforementioned, the harvest generally will be moderately fertile. Grain will have an unstable price: for at times it will be at a moderate price, and at times it will rise: where that moderate abundance will not be able to be sustained.

Of the health and well-being of men.

Many rheumatisms, apoplexies, and paralyses will happen, and especially in the elderly: of whom many will perish. Also children and many women, and also stupors of the brain and diseases of the nerves. Dropsies, spleen [disorders], and pains of the joints. Somorea possibly referring to a specific bodily flux or discharge and many fluxes and also uterine [disorders] will hold the sum of the diseases of this year.

Pestilential and epidemic diseases will also appear, although not generally, nor will they exceed the wrath of superiors in severity, although those places must change. These diseases will more easily receive care and provision, though not without great mortality.

Many of the common people will perish in many places due to a lack of necessities, the harshness of food, and the impiety of men.
