Prognostication

If we say that Jupiter with Saturn governs the winter quarter, we will not disagree with the wise men of astrological science. For in the preceding prevention the preceding syzygy or opposition of luminaries and in the figure of the Sun’s entry into Capricorn, Jupiter holds many dignities. He illuminates the angle of the fourth house in the figure of the entry with his presence, striking the ascendant with a trine ray. However, he admits Saturn as an associate, both because of his lordship in the place of the eclipse and because of his authority in the angle of the revolution through the triplicity and the face. Furthermore, he does not recede from the first house.

¶ Chapter three: Concerning the future quality of the air in the four seasons of the year.

The disposition of spring will be humid and cold, because of the humid and cold sign ascending. Mars also, being in the ascendant, will generate impetuous rains and even hail, though he will temper the cold. The application of the Moon in the conjunctive figure to the body of Jupiter will attempt to return the air to a moderate state. Saturn also, in Capricorn with northern latitude, according to Guido Bonatti, generates a middling amount of rain and a good disposition of the air.

Summer will be very windy because of the lordship of Mercury in the place of the conjunction, and very hot at its beginning because of Mars in the ascendant of the conjunction and its fiery ascendant. Venus, also, as mistress of the ascendant of the revolution in Leo, testifies to the same. Thunders will be heard and lightnings will appear in the air more than usual. Also, harmful rains will fall from the sky, destroying many things germinating from the earth.

Autumn will be cold and humid because of the lordship of the Moon in the figure of the prevention. The ascendant of the revolution, however, being a dry sign, will attempt to move the air toward its own nature. Mercury, however, dominating in the same place, will move very strong eastern winds. Saturn also, looking at both the ascendant of the prevention of the Sun’s entry into Libra and that of the revolution itself, will generate some very cold days after the beginning of October.

The quality of winter will lean toward heat beyond its nature, along with dryness.
