Chapter 11: Concerning sicknesses and plague

For diseases and the corruption of the first quality in matter, a reference to the four Aristotelian qualities: hot, cold, wet, and dry because of the disproportion that follows, no one doubts that such a disproportion of humors, and their defect or excess, deservedly happens from celestial causes. For the Sun, which is the father of men and gods, among the other planets, directs the vital spirit that is in the heart, the animal spirit that is in the brain, and also the natural spirit that is in the liver. The Moon, meanwhile, looks upon the radical moisture in which life consists. When these two luminaries are eclipsed, their rays do not descend into the earth; thus, all power that is directed to the earth by their rays is hindered. Therefore, it is fitting that the rays of the evils, from which infirmities and deaths arise, descend freely into the earth, and their significations remain in the air as if in a cell, and they infect the air. When it is infected, men die or suffer illnesses. Since we have examined the present year through diligent observation of the stars and the examination of their influence, we find that the year will be minimal in terms of viscous mortalities and sicknesses arising from putrefaction of the humors. Therefore, men will experience sanguineous, feverish causes, spitting of blood, corrosion of the flesh with putrefaction, sanguineous pustules, alabeha a skin condition, likely a form of erysipelas or severe redness which is the redness of the body with roughness, morphea a localized scleroderma or skin discoloration, also cancer, leprosy, and the like. Many people will suffer from these pestiferous diseases under the weight of shameful afflictions. Let them fear, and they will suffer. The stars indeed portend that plagues will come in the middle of the days or during the spring.

Chapter 12: Concerning the disposition of the lightness of the harvest and its commonality
