A bookplate for the University of California at Los Angeles. The central section features the University of California seal, which depicts an open book with a radiant star above it and a banner draped across it bearing the motto "FIAT LVX". The circular border of the seal is inscribed with "SIGILLVM · VNIVERSITATIS · CALIFORNIENSIS" and the date "MDCCCLXVIII" (1868) at the base. This seal is enclosed within an ornate rectangular frame. At the bottom of this frame is a rectangular block containing the text "EX LIBRIS". The entire bookplate is divided into three distinct horizontal boxes: the top box containing the university name, the middle box containing the seal, and the bottom box containing the owner's name.
