Schubert; also to an essay entitled Regular Figures in n-dimensional Space, by W. I. Stringham, in the third volume of the American Journal of Mathematics, and an article on Magic Squares in the Eleventh Edition of the Encyclopaedia Britannica.
The chapter entitled A Philosophy of Ornament is enriched by certain ideas first suggested in a lecture by Mr. Irving K. Pond. With no desire to wear borrowed plumes meaning: to take credit for others' work, the author yet found it impossible in this instance to avoid doing so, they are so woven into the very texture of his thought. In the circumstances, he can only make grateful acknowledgment to Mr. Pond.
The author desires to express his gratitude to Mr. Frederick L. Trautmann for his admirable interpretations of Projective Ornament in color, of which the frontispiece gives an idea—and only an idea.
