Using the word "Monkey" itself is the most wonderful approach. Thus, I praise him with only that single word. Is this not what is meant when it is said that the disciples of Confucius, You and Xia, could not add a single word to his teachings?
Regarding my commentary on the humorous points: whether it is the beastly form of Bajie that makes one laugh, or the sharp antics of the pilgrim that bring joy, or the cold wondrous remarks of the old or young monk that make one hold their breath, I praise them all with the word "zest" qu charm/humor. Yuan Zhonglang a famous Ming dynasty critic nearly captured the essence of this "zest" in his critiques. Su referring to Su Shi did not add further praise.
