Lord of the Sabbath day,
Hear us, be with us today!
As we meet for prayer,
As we hear the word you gave to us.

2 Rest on earth is sweet,
But the rest of heaven is sweeter,
Our hearts desire that day,
When we rest from the works of sin.

3 Without trouble, without weariness we shall be,
Where the rest that is coming is,
Sin, evil will not be there,
Only peace throughout the day.

4 There is no fighting, no fear,
No anxiety like this world,
That mingles with our singing,
That comes from the immortal realm.

5 Begin the day we wait for,
The dawning of it we wish to see,
This bad path we wish to leave,
To sleep in death, and awake in joy.
