PHILOMATHES: How is that? Are not all those who run directly to the Devil in one category?
EPISTEMON: God forbid! For the sin against the Holy Ghost has two branches. The first is a falling away from the whole service of God and a refusal of all His precepts. The other is doing the first with knowledge—knowing that they do wrong against their own conscience and the testimony of the Holy Spirit, after having once had a taste of the sweetness of God’s mercies.
Now, in the first of these two, all sorts of Necromancers original: "Necromancers"; traditionally those who communicate with the dead, but used here more broadly for magicians, Enchanters, or Witches are included. But in the second branch, none are included except those who sin with the specific knowledge I have mentioned.
Hebrews 6:10 The author likely refers to the passage in Hebrews 6:4–6 regarding those who fall away after being enlightened and tasting the "heavenly gift."

EPISTEMON: There are principally two sorts, into which all the parts of that unhappy art are categorized original: "redacted". One is called Magic or Necromancy, and the other is Sorcery or Witchcraft.
PHILOMATHES: What, I pray you, and how many are the means by which the Devil allures people into any of these snares?
