This page contains no written text. It is a marbled endpaper, a decorative element frequently used in the binding of historical manuscripts. The patterns seen here—swirling veins of reddish-brown and tan—were created by floating pigments on a liquid bath and then transferring the design to paper. These papers served both to protect the manuscript and to provide an aesthetically pleasing transition from the cover to the internal pages.
