This is the third of the original Rosicrucian manifestos. Strasbourg, Heirs of Lazarus Zetzner, 1616, small octavo octavo: a book size resulting from folding a printed sheet into eight leaves (16 pages) of 143 pages, half-vellum half-vellum: a binding where the spine is covered in calf-skin parchment (vellum) while the rest of the cover is paper or cloth.

The "Chemical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz" is one of the primary writings of the purported founder of the Order of the Rose Cross. "He had only composed this work to amuse himself by criticizing and ridiculing the alchemists and the theosophists theosophists: in this 17th-century context, those seeking direct knowledge of the divine through mystical philosophy of that era" (Figuier) referring to Louis Figuier (1819–1894), a prolific French science writer who often took a skeptical view of alchemy.
