Introduction

T HIS present new edition of the *Volume* [*First Paramirum*] and the *Work* [*Second Paramirum*] The title Paramirum is a term coined by Paracelsus, roughly meaning "Beyond Wonder" or "About Miraculous Things." It refers to his system of medicine that looked beyond traditional medieval theories. is based in its fundamental features on the excellent Huser text of the Basel quarto edition [1589–1591] Johannes Huser (c. 1545–1600) was a physician who spent years collecting Paracelsus’s original manuscripts to create the first definitive printed collection of his works.. Urgent textual changes for the sake of easier readability and corrections of disruptive printing errors have been attempted. The most essential annotations are intended to bring the understanding of the often alien content closer to the reader. Guiding principles have been highlighted through *spaced lettering* original: Sperrdruck, a German typesetting tradition where characters are spaced out to provide emphasis, similar to italics.. Both works are found in the first part of the aforementioned edition¹), specifically the *Volume*²) *of the Medical Paramirum of Theophrastus, On Medical Diligence* on pages 1–64, and the *Work*³) *Paramirum . . . Made in Honor of the Venerable . . . Joachim von Wadt* Joachim von Wadt (1484–1551), also known as Vadianus, was a Swiss humanist, physician, and reformer who was a contemporary of Paracelsus. on pages 67–140. The latter work consists of two books. To these are added
