His colleagues called what he had to say in his time "strange" and "extraordinary," but in the Work Beyond Wonder original: "Paramirum-werk." The title "Paramirum" is a word coined by Paracelsus, likely meaning "beyond wonder." itself stands the word that provides the answer:
“But how can I not be strange to one who has never walked in the sun?”
In the following, we provide the exact layout of the Volume and the Work Beyond Wonder original: "Volumen und Opus Paramirum." according to the Basel Quarto edition:
I. The Volume on the Five Entities of All Diseases original: "Paramirum [Volumen] de quinque Entibus omnium morborum.", that is, how every single disease may arise and be born from five-fold causes. It comprises five books: In the First, the origin of all diseases is treated, which is caused by the effect and influence of the stars. In the Second, how all diseases may be born from the poison or impurity that is in food and drink [otherwise called Tartar original: "Tartarus." This refers to metabolic byproducts or "stony" deposits like gout or kidney stones.]. In the Fifth, how man often becomes subject to all diseases through the special, hidden counsel of God.
II. Another Work Beyond Wonder original: "Opus Paramirum.", in whose first and second books or parts the origin and descent of all diseases is treated, as they are naturally born from the breaking down of the Mercury, Salt, and Sulphur of the microcosm original: "Mercurii, Salis und Sulphuris Microcosmici." These were not the common chemicals, but Paracelsus’s "Three Principles" that made up all matter, including the human body or "microcosm.". In the Third book, which contains six treatises, the origin of all diseases from Tartar [stone formation in humans] is treated, which by...
