Of the enlightened professor of Sacred Scripture original: sacre pagine, a traditional term for a doctor of theology or professor of the Bible, the most distinguished master Ramon Llull. The Great, General, and Ultimate Art: the achiever and key-bearer original: clauigera; the book is presented as a "key" to unlock all other branches of knowledge of whichever of Llull’s own arts and sciences, providing an easier entrance to them. Never before has it been more suitably committed to the art of printing; and refined by Master Bernard de Lavinheta, a most faithful interpreter of that art. Together with figures technical diagrams used in Llull's logical system properly inserted in their place, which are explanatory of the whole work. Moreover, with titles and annotations added to each part, chapter, and rubric; with an added alphabetical index or inventory embracing the more choice maxims, referring back to the page numbers.
This refers to the Sudarium or Veil of Veronica, an image of the face of Christ believed to be imprinted on cloth, which is depicted in the large woodcut on this page.
