A xyst (original Italian: "xisti") refers to a covered portico, a colonnade, or a garden walk lined with trees, a feature Palladio adapted from classical Greek and Roman descriptions.

WITH PRIVILEGES.

In the 17th century, "privileges" were legal protections granted by authorities (like the Venetian Senate) giving the printer exclusive rights to publish the work for a set period—an early form of copyright.
