Six distinct scenes are arranged in a grid, each bordered by scrolls containing Latin scripture. The figures are rendered with clear, rhythmic poses against architectural or landscape backgrounds, showing the transition from Late Gothic to Early Renaissance styles. Each New Testament scene is paired with an Old Testament prophecy, creating a visual dialogue between different parts of the Bible.
Commissioned by Piero de' Medici, these panels utilize biblical typology to demonstrate the continuity of divine law. This structured pairing of prophecy and fulfillment reflects the intellectual environment of the Medici circle and the Dominican tradition of scriptural concordance, which served as a precursor to the Neoplatonic syntheses of the later 15th century.
