To the left, Socrates is seen counting points of an argument on his fingers for a group of listeners, and on the far right, figures hold celestial and terrestrial globes. The figures are set within a monumental, vaulted architectural space that reflects the principles of High Renaissance harmony and perspective.

The work serves as a visual manifesto of Renaissance Neoplatonism, illustrating the reconciliation between Plato's idealism and Aristotle's empiricism. It aligns with the intellectual project of the Platonic Academy in Florence, which sought to synthesize ancient Greek philosophy with Western esoteric and Christian thought.
