An engraved bookplate belonging to the Taylor Institution. It features two heraldic shields positioned side by side. The left shield displays the coat of arms for the University of Oxford, which shows an open book placed between three crowns. The book is inscribed with the motto "The Lord is my light" original: Dominus Illuminatio Mea. The right shield depicts a lion walking on a background of diagonal stripes. A decorative ribbon banner below the shields is inscribed with the name of the Taylor Institution.
