An engraved heraldic bookplate shows two shields side-by-side. The left shield bears the arms of the University of Oxford, which features an open book with the University motto surrounded by three crowns. The right shield depicts a lion rampant on a field of diagonal stripes. A decorative banner scrolls across the bottom of both shields.
