Front Cover

This page shows the front cover of the manuscript. The volume is bound in mottled brown calfskin mottled calf: a decorative leather finish produced by dabbing acid or dye onto the surface to create a marbled or "sprinkled" effect.

The edges of the boards are decorated with a double gold-tooled fillet border fillet: a decorative line or set of lines impressed into the leather with a heated wheel or tool that frames the outer perimeter.
