"They appear not to have used it at all, neither by transposing syllables, nor by omitting or adding letters." original: οὐδαμῶς δὲ φαίνονται αὐτοὶ χρησάμενοι, οὔτε μεταθέντες συλλαβάς, οὔτε ἀποβάλλοντες, οὔτε προσθέντες γράμματα They teach what Anagrammatismus The art of rearranging the letters of a word or phrase to produce a new word or phrase. is; but they do not seem to have used it, neither transposing syllables, nor rejecting or adding letters. But letters should neither be rejected nor added for it to be considered an Anagrammatismus. To transpose them was enough. Or am I mistaken? He attributes far too much to Sleep, and thus assigns it to Anagrammatismo. He adds, indeed, that the use of this skill is sometimes necessary for the interpretation of dreams, and contributes to the perfection and dignity of the oneirokritou original: ὀνειροκρίτου — a dream-interpreter or the art of dream interpretation.. In this regard, the praise belonged to Aristander, who, when Alexander was stalled in the long and doubtful siege of Tyre, successfully interpreted a dream by the benefit of a single syllable and promised victory. Plutarch tells the story; but I follow the words of Artemidorus, who describes the manner of the dream. Look: the King had seen a Satyr playing on his shield during his rest. What did the Prophet do? He used Anagrammatismo, and by dividing the word, he said:
You might tolerate the dream: for it is, after all, a dream. Or shall I say? Superstition progressed toward onomanteia original: ὀνομαντείαν — divination through the study of names. or stoicheiomanteia original: στοιχειομαντείαν — divination through the letters of the alphabet.; as if from the name that each person bears, their fates and future depend... The Latin text cuts off at "depen-", to be completed on the next page as "dependeant" (depend).
