Secret Chancery. The "Secret Chancery" (Anhaltische Kanzlei) refers to a famous collection of diplomatic documents belonging to Christian of Anhalt, a leader of the Protestant Union. After his defeat at the Battle of White Mountain in 1620, these documents were captured by Bavarian (Catholic) forces and published as propaganda to expose Protestant war plans. This text is a formal response to those revelations.
