But it is especially necessary that one gives good heed to this excellent order: namely, that JESUS stands at the fore with his Heart flaming with Love, and that our hearts follow after; by which it is clearly made known that that loving Heart of JESUS is the only Foundation, yes, the only and eternal Fountain-head original: "Sprink-ader." Literally a "sprinkling vein" or "spring-vein," a metaphor for a source or wellspring of water, signifying the origin of spiritual life., from which this indwelling and inner working of JESUS in our hearts proceeds.

4. But this present little Treatise original: "Tractaatje." A common term in the 17th and 18th centuries for a small book or essay intended for popular devotion. is therefore rightly called a LIVING HEART-THEOLOGY, because it looks only at the heart, so that JESUS might be recognized and found within the heart.
