6. The eighteen defects In Jain philosophy, these 'doshas' or flaws are absent in an Arhat or omniscient being. are: hunger, thirst, fear, anger, attachment, delusion, anxiety, old age, disease, death, perspiration, fatigue, pride, indulgence, surprise, sleep, birth, and restlessness.
He is free from all defects, possessed of supreme grandeur such as Omniscience.
original Prakrit: णिस्सेसदोसरहिओ केवलणाणाइपरमविभवजुदो ।
He is called the Supreme Soul; one who is the opposite is not the Supreme Soul.
original Prakrit: सो परमप्पा उच्चइ तव्विवरीओ ण परमप्पा ॥ ७ ॥
He is free from all defects, endowed with the highest wealth of Omniscience and so on.
original Sanskrit: निःशेषदोषरहितः केवलज्ञानादिपरमविभवयुतः ।
He is called the Supreme Soul; one who is the opposite is not the Supreme Soul.
original Sanskrit: स परमात्मोच्यते तद्विपरीतो न परमात्मा ॥ ७ ॥
7. One free from all defects and possessed of sublime grandeur such as Omniscience Omniscience: Kevala Jnana, or infinite, all-encompassing knowledge is called Parmátmá (the Highest Soul) or the Perfect One. One who is not such, is not Parmátmá.
The words proceeding from his mouth, pure and free from inconsistency,
original Prakrit: तस्स मुहग्गदवयणं पुव्वावरदोसविरहियं सुद्धं ।

original Prakrit: आगममिदि परिकहियं तेण दु कहिया हवंति तच्चत्था ॥ ८ ॥
The words emerging from his mouth, pure and free from internal contradictions,
original Sanskrit: तस्य मुखोद्गतवचनं पूर्वापरदोषविरहितं शुद्धम् ।
Are called the Scripture; by that, the true principles are explained.
original Sanskrit: आगममिदि परिकथितं तेन तु कथिता भवन्ति तत्त्वार्थाः ॥ ८ ॥
8. Words proceeding from his mouth, pure and free from the flaw of inconsistency That is, the teachings do not contradict themselves or the nature of reality. are called Ágama (scripture). In that Ágama the principles (Tattvártha) are enunciated.
Souls, matter, the media of motion and rest, time, and space,
original Prakrit: जीवा पोग्गलकाया धम्माधम्मा य काल आयासं ।
Are called the true principles, joined with various attributes and modes.
original Prakrit: तच्चत्था इदि भणिदा णाणगुणपज्जएहिं संजुत्ता ॥ ९ ॥

9. Soul, Matter, medium of motion, medium of rest, space, (substances) having dimensions, and Time, together with their various attributes and modifications are said to be the principles (Tattvártha).
