The supreme merit arising from these offerings is now dedicated toward Unsurpassed Enlightenment Bodhi: The state of awakening or enlightenment attained by a Buddha.. Just as the various roots of goodness produced by the Buddhas of the past were dedicated toward Enlightenment through the skillful means of "non-attainment" A core Mahayana concept where one performs good deeds without clinging to the idea of a "self" who gains or a "reward" to be had., I likewise hold this merit and dedicate it toward Unsurpassed Right and Perfect Enlightenment.
I exhort and invite all Buddhas: I only wish that you would proceed to the Place of Enlightenment Bodhimanda: The seat or platform where a Buddha attains awakening, often referring to the area under the Bodhi tree., subdue the demonic enemies, realize Great Enlightenment, and turn the Great Wheel of the Dharma A metaphor for the Buddha's teaching, which rolls through the world to crush ignorance and suffering.. For those who wish to enter Nirvana original: "滅度" (miedu). Refers to the final passing away of a Buddha from the cycle of rebirth., I exhort and invite you, for the sake of all sentient beings original: "有情" (youqing). Literally 'those with consciousness/feelings,' referring to all living beings in the cycle of rebirth., wishing that you remain for a full Great Aeon Kalpa: An immense period of time in Buddhist cosmology, often compared to the time it takes to wear away a mountain by stroking it once every hundred years with a silk cloth.. I rejoice in all the various merits cultivated by all Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and all sentient beings.
With the dew of compassion, I repent for all my sins. Just as the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the three times Past, present, and future. revealed and repented for their sins, I also do the same, wishing that my sins may be extinguished.
Once the offering and the repentance are finished, then with a pure heart, recall all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Before the image of the Buddha, recite this Secret Word Mantra: A sacred utterance or incantation believed to have spiritual power. three full times. The mantra is:
Om Saran Tun Ra-Saran Tun Ra-Vimana-Sa pronounced with a falling and drawn-out tone Ra-Maha Jva la Hum This is a phonetic rendering of the Sanskrit mantra. In this tradition, the sounds themselves are considered to contain the essence of the Buddha's power.
Once this mantra has been recited, one then speaks of the desire to accomplish a great cloud of celestial and wondrous offerings. These will quickly appear before all the Buddhas. If a good man or a good woman focuses their thoughts on the Buddha, whether by day or by night, and recites this Great Wheel of Dedication, their various sins will be extinguished, and all their afflictions will gradually become thin and weak.
They will be able to obtain the merit described previously. If they recite it through once, they obtain the merit of a hundred Brahmas High-ranking celestial beings/gods in Indian cosmology; the merit refers to the spiritual 'wealth' or status of such a deity.. If they constantly see the Buddha, then after their life ends, they will be born in the Pure Land Sukhavati: A celestial realm or 'Buddha-field' where conditions are perfect for achieving enlightenment.. When the Buddha had finished speaking this sutra, the assembly of Bodhisattvas rejoiced and practiced it.
