For those dozens of men who had fled in different directions, referring to the retreating soldiers of the rebel-held East Chuan army [Gao Renhou] sent a message of his own accord, saying: "The Vice-President original: 僕射 (Puye). This refers to Gao Renhou himself, using his formal title as Vice-President of the Department of State Affairs. Grand General of the Army luckily does not know of your identities. When Junxiong and the others pursued him, the ambush was triggered; the rebels suffered a great defeat and fled back in escape. Renhou then advanced to besiege Zizhou modern-day Santai County, Sichuan.
The rebel leader Sun Xi gathered a force of several thousand men to attack Junzhou modern-day Shiyan, Hubei. The Prefect, Lyu Ye, was at a loss for what to do. The Chief Commander, Feng Xingxi, placed his troops in ambush south of the river and personally took a small boat to meet Sun Xi. He said to him: "The people of this prefecture have finally found a good shepherd original: 良牧 (liangmu). A classical term for a benevolent and capable local governor who "tends" to the people like a flock.; there is none who does not turn their heart toward you. However, your following is too large, and the people fear they will be pillaged."
