Guangyou says: Discourse is the language of words; conduct is the language of action.
If one is still caught up in "entangling vines" original: "葛藤"; a Zen metaphor for complicated verbal explanations or intellectual attachments that obscure direct realization. and cannot cast them aside, remaining mired in literary trivialities, how could they even begin to discuss this collection? Nevertheless, for those at the initial stages of practice who come to leaf through these pages, I hope that perhaps a single word or phrase might strike a chord or trigger a realization. If so, they shall walk hand-in-hand with the ancestral masters of past generations and the venerable masters of the world, allowing this collection to be spread widely and without end.
