On the Ancient Synagogue

A circular emblem or bookplate is printed on a square white label and pasted onto the page. The emblem features a pelican in her piety. This is a mother bird pecking her breast to feed three chicks in a nest, a symbol of self-sacrifice and devotion. Above the pelican, blue rays of light emanate from a golden sunburst or crown. Below the nest is a shield divided into four sections, each containing a small reddish rose. A circular border surrounding the image contains the text: Hermetic Philosophy.
