A circular emblem or bookplate is pasted onto the page. The outer border contains the inscription "Hermetic Philosophy" in English translation from the original Latin. In the central oval, a white pelican is shown in the posture known as "in her piety." She feeds her young with blood from her own breast, a traditional symbol of self-sacrifice and the alchemical process. The nest sits on a square pedestal or cube decorated with four brown rosettes. Light blue rays shine down from a golden celestial arc at the top of the oval.
