Let these things then be the primary and true principles.
By philosophy, I do not mean whatever might be called
philosophy, or however it might be conceived
by us; but rather that which truly exists,
the lover? original: erastēn; a term suggesting a passionate, erotic-like devotion to wisdom of truth itself.
And [I mean] to receive the starting points from which
[the soul] imitates? the path of each part of the soul toward God.
Remembering? [these things], let it be disposed toward pure and mystical hearing contemplative listening|original: akroasis; refers to the spiritual discipline of attending to divine or philosophical instruction.
Thus let us immerse ourselves in the
virtues of true? [wisdom], so that
it may yield a fruitful nature of the things within it.
