A detailed woodcut illustration depicts the Creation. In the upper celestial realm, God the Father appears within a radiant light, surrounded by clouds and cherubim. Below, in the Garden of Eden, various animals are present, including an elephant, a lion, a camel, a stag, and numerous birds. In the center, Adam and Eve stand near the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, around which a serpent is coiled.
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
The earth was invisible original: "աներևոյթ" - without form and unready, and darkness was over the deep, and the Spirit of God moved over the waters.
And God said, Let there be light, and there was light.
And God saw that the light was good, and God separated the light from the darkness.
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening, and there was morning, one day.
And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And it was so.
And God made the firmament, and God separated the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament.
And God called the firmament Heaven. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning, the second day.
And God said, Let the waters which are under the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear. And it was so. And the waters which were under the heavens were gathered into their places, and the dry land appeared.
And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering of the waters he called Seas; and God saw that it was good.
And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, yielding seed after its kind and after its likeness, and fruit-bearing trees, yielding fruit after its kind, whose seed is in itself, after its kind, after its likeness, upon the earth. And it was so.
And the earth brought forth grass, yielding seed which is upon all the earth, and fruit-bearing wood, yielding fruit whose seed is in itself, after its kind, upon the earth. And God saw that it was good.
And there was evening, and there was morning, the third day.
And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens, for light upon the earth, and to divide between the day and between the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and for years.
And let them be for light in the firmament of the heavens to shine upon the earth. And it was so.
And God made the two great lights: the greater light for the rule of the day, and the lesser light for the rule of the night; and the stars.
