A large, complex engraving serves as the architectural frontispiece. It is set within a grand four-columned portico. In the center, a putto sits atop a tiered fountain, holding a burning slow match and surrounded by pyrotechnic displays like rockets and exploding shells. A rocket ascends in the background. The architectural elements are rich with symbols: the column pedestals feature technical diagrams of geometry, ballistics, and surveying tools (quadrants, triangles, scales). The architrave is decorated with military and engineering implements including compasses, rulers, shells, cannonballs, and swords. Atop the structure, two flaming mortar shells flank a decorative firework sphere. On the foreground and balconies, figures in 17th-century attire observe the fireworks or use scientific instruments. A motto is inscribed in an oval wreath on the pediment. Small text at the bottom identifies the designer and engraver.
